Shamsaad Marakkar (District Panchayat President inaugurated the festival and urged upon the need for planning and guidance for the marketing of agricultural products of Wayanad farmers. He also declared that they are soon going to hold a meet to network with various companies engaged in the marketing of agro products to facilitate direct linkage between farmers and companies.
Devaki A welcomed the audience and acknowledged the support of MSSRF-CAbC in bringing tribal communities together in conserving agrobiodiversity. T Siddique, MLA Wayanad congratulated for organising the event through his video message and highlighted the need for such events in light of climate change. He said, “We will get valuable outputs to overcome and adapt to climate change from events like Seed Fest as Wayanad is home to native nutritious crop diversity”.
The inaugural event followed with honouring the genome saviours of Wayanad who are engaged in conserving native agrobiodiversity. Mr Suresh (Malavayal Kuruchiya Tharavad), Mr. Gopinathan (Alathoor), Mr. Anil (Noolpuzha) and Mrs. Kumbamma (Kolliyil) were honoured with the award for their contribution.
